Step Back In Time

About the Inn

As a child, I remember distinctly when first opening the door at “bolognie nannies”, was the pair of boys underwear on her head as she pounded down on the bread in the big bread pan. It wasn’t above her either, to tear off a slab and hand it over to me to eat as I waited for the fresh bread to raise.

I could remember her saying “now go pick as many strawberries as you can and I’ll make you a bit of strawberry jam to go on your fresh bread. Wild strawberries grew along the tracks close by and although being very small they had a burst of flavour.

I really think it was from that time I started to fall in love with food. Nan made things better, she made things happen, she brought people, emotions, and passions together whether she realized it or not. Nan created memories that I still draw from for comfort today.

Like stepping back in time in a memory of my nanny’s house, THE MILTON INN offers you the same opportunity to take a walk back in time to reflect on your own past.

THE MILTON INN is approximately 85 years old and has been restored as closely to that period and as close to the original building as could be done. Through sight and touch of the old stained staircase and the love seat made in England 1879 out of chestnut wood, you surely will start to drift back a few years. And if that doesn’t do it for you, notice on the wall to the left as you enter the buildings front door, the last century caught in a moment through the old photos of my family who were the first to settle this little town.

The living room with the old fireplace, and built in bookshelf now resides as our dining room. In this dinning room you will find dishes fit for a king but made with the same essence, passion and love as those prepared at my nanny’s house all those years ago.

Her kitchen was the heartbeat of her house and likewise is the heartbeat of ours, it’s the love and hospitality that you will find here during your stay at the MILTON INN.

The rooms upstairs are smaller compared to what people are used to today but you will feel as if my grandmother is taking you to a room in her own home. The rooms are filled with old solid wood furniture. The beds are dressed with quilts sewed by my mother with the same passion and love her mother made them with all those years ago.

This INN has shared amenities but we offer anything you might need or have forgotten that will make your stay warm and pleasant. We want you to truly feel at home here at the MILTON INN.

We Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
